Find duplicate images in Google Drive.

Twinsift scans the images in your Google Workspace shared drives, links every copy, rendition, crop and edit to its original, and picks the best file to keep.

Accuracy measured on a test library of 250,995 files.

Why shared drives collect copies

Shared drives are where teams put everything: agency deliveries, exports from design tools, downloads from the DAM, and the same photo uploaded again by someone who couldn't find it. Drive will keep ten files with the same name, or ten names for the same picture.

Drive's checksum only matches identical files. A photo saved again as PNG, resized for the web or cropped for a slide is a new file as far as Drive is concerned.

What Twinsift finds

Each file is grouped with its original. The original is chosen by what is in the pixels: true resolution first, then format, bit depth, compression and sharpness.

How it connects

Your Workspace admin sets up a service account with domain-wide delegation and the read-only Drive scope, drive.readonly, limited to the shared drives you choose. Nothing is installed on your side.

After the first scan, Twinsift follows Drive's change feed, so later scans only fetch new or changed files.

Deletes go to the trash

Nothing changes until you approve a cleanup plan, and only duplicates and renditions can be deleted, never the original. Google has no delete-only permission, so a cleanup needs the full Drive scope, which you grant only if you want one. Deleted files go to the Drive trash and can be restored for 30 days.

Questions

Does Twinsift need access to all of our Drive?

No. It reads only the shared drives you choose, with read-only access.

Does it change sharing, folders or file names?

No. The only change Twinsift can make is moving approved duplicates and renditions to the trash.
